Selalu ada yang menggiurkan pada kekuasaan. Sesuatu yang menghidupkan harapan, sesuatu yang memungkinkan yang kurang bertambah, dan yang lemah menguat. Psikoanalisa Lacanian menyebutnya \u201csurplus enjoyment\u201d. Tetapi bukan untuk menambahkan yang kurang, melainkan untuk menikmati yang sudah berlebih, bahkan. Semacam tambahan kualitas kenikmatan setelah orgasme (seksual, politikal, intelektual).<\/p>\n

Kekuasaan, sejak Hobbes, lalu ke Nietzsche, gumpalan energi survival itu diperlukan untuk menerangkan penolakan atas kematian. Artinya ada kehendak untuk terus menghasilkan hidup (the will to power). Ketika konsep negara tiba, energi itu disalurkan dalam ruang demokrasi berupa kompetisi pemilu dan politik oposisi. Adalah asumsi tentang akal dan kesadaran etislah yang menopang ide kompetisi dan membenarkan oposisi. Politik adalah medan kompetisi \u201cthe will to power\u201d dengan basis argumen intelektual. Karena itu, demokrasi harus dipahami sebagai pemerintahan akal melalui pemerintahan orang. Dari Plato sampai Karl Jaspers, ide ini hendak diunggulkan dan dimuliakan.<\/p>\n

Tetapi realitas politik sering tiba dalam format non-intelektual. Itulah yang kini kita saksikan di sini, hari-hari ini.<\/p>\n
